To secure your Dynamics 365 Portal with an SSL certificate, you’ll need to generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). This guide provides step-by-step instructions using the DigiCert Utility tool.


Prerequisites

✔ Your Dynamics 365 Portal must be licensed and configured with a custom domain.


Procedure

1. Download and Install the DigiCert Utility

✅ Access the DigiCert® Certificate Utility for Windows from the official DigiCert website.
✅ Install the tool by following the on-screen instructions.


2. Generate the CSR

✅ Launch the DigiCert Utility.
✅ Click on "Create CSR."
✅ Fill in the required certificate details:

  • Field: Common Name Value: Your portal’s custom domain (e.g., yourportal.customdomain.com)
  • Field: Organization Value: Your company’s legal name
  • Field: Organizational Unit Value: Your department (e.g., IT)
  • Field: City/Locality Value: Your city
  • Field: State/Province Value: Your state or province
  • Field: Country Value: Your country code (e.g., US for United States)

✅ Ensure the "Certificate Type" is set to "SSL."
✅ Click "Generate" to create the CSR.


3. Save the CSR File

✅ In the subsequent popup, select "Save to File."
✅ Choose a secure location to store the .csr file.


Next Steps

✅ Submit the generated .csr file to your chosen Certificate Authority (CA) to obtain the SSL certificate.
